Poe

Quora's app for many AI models on one points budget

Freemium

What is Poe?

Poe is a chat app from Quora that puts many AI models behind one login. Instead of subscribing separately to several assistants, you pick a model from a long list, including text, image, video and audio models plus thousands of community-built bots, and spend a shared monthly allowance of “compute points”. It also lets you create your own bots without code.

Quick facts

  • Made by: Quora, the question-and-answer company
  • Free plan: Yes, with about 300 compute points a day. Sources report this was cut from about 3,000 a day in March 2026.
  • Paid plans: Six point-based tiers from $4.99 to $249.99 a month
  • Works on: Web, iOS, Android and desktop apps, with an API for bot creators
  • Pricing last checked: October 2026, using Poe’s own plans page and several recent published sources. Allowances changed more than once this year, so confirm on Poe’s official page.

What Poe is best at

  • One place for many models: switch between models from different providers in the same app.
  • Comparing answers: ask the same question of several models and see how they differ.
  • Image, video and audio models: creative models alongside the chat models.
  • Custom bots: build a bot from a model plus your own instructions, and share it.
  • A bot marketplace: thousands of community bots for specific tasks.

Plans and pricing

Plan Price Points
Free $0 About 300 points a day, enough for light use of lower-cost models.
Starter $4.99 per month, or $49.99 per year About 10,000 points a day.
Premium $19.99 per month, or $199.99 per year About 660,000 points a month. This was 1,000,000 before a reported cut in July 2026.
Premium Plus $49.99 per month, or $499.99 per year About 1.65 million points a month.
Pro $99.99 per month, or $999.99 per year About 3.3 million points a month.
Pro Max $249.99 per month, or $2,499.99 per year About 8.25 million points a month.

Every message costs points, and the cost depends on the model and the length of the exchange. Frontier text models, image models and especially video models can use thousands of points in one request, so the sticker price tells you less than which models you use. Annual billing saves about 17%. Confirm all figures on Poe’s official page.

Best for

  • People who want to try or compare several leading models without several subscriptions.
  • Bot builders who want to publish a custom assistant to an audience.
  • Users who mostly use cheaper models and want one bill.

Less suited to

  • Anyone who needs the full feature set of one provider’s app, since models on Poe do not always include native features such as a provider’s memory or project tools.
  • Heavy users of frontier or video models, because points drain quickly.
  • Anyone who wants predictable costs, because points per message vary.

How to get started

  1. Try the free plan and ask the same question of two or three different models.
  2. Check how many points a typical message costs on the models you like.
  3. Estimate your monthly use before choosing a tier.
  4. Try building a simple custom bot with a clear instruction and test it.
  5. Compare Poe against the cost of subscribing to your favourite model directly.

Prompt ideas to copy

Explain [topic] to a beginner in five bullet points. I will ask the same question to several models, so keep the format simple and give one example.
Review this paragraph and suggest three ways to improve the clarity. Do not rewrite the whole thing.
Create a custom bot that acts as a friendly study coach: it quizzes me on one topic at a time, waits for my answer and explains any mistakes.
Summarise this article in three sentences and list two claims I should double-check before sharing it.

Limitations and things to watch

  • The points system is opaque, and costs vary by model and message.
  • Allowances and the free tier were cut during 2026.
  • One source reports a Knowledge Base feature was retired in May 2026, which could affect bots that relied on uploaded reference files.
  • You depend on Poe for access to each model, and availability can change.
