Adobe Firefly
Adobe's generative AI for images, video and design
What is Adobe Firefly?
Adobe Firefly is Adobe’s family of generative AI tools for images, video, audio and design. You can use it at firefly.adobe.com and in the mobile app, and its features also appear inside Adobe apps such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and Adobe Express. Adobe says its own Firefly models are trained on licensed and public-domain content and designed for commercial use, which is a major reason designers and businesses choose it.
Quick facts
- Made by: Adobe
- Free plan: Yes, with a small monthly credit allowance. Some sources report about 25 credits a month and watermarked output.
- Paid plans: Firefly Standard, Pro, Pro Plus and Premium, plus credits bundled into Creative Cloud plans
- Works on: Web, iOS and Android, and inside Adobe apps
- Pricing last checked: October 2026, using Adobe’s own credits help page and several recent published sources. Credit allowances and promotions change, so confirm on Adobe’s official plans page.
What Adobe Firefly is best at
- Commercially focused image generation: text-to-image, Generative Fill and Generative Expand for editing and extending photos.
- Working inside Adobe apps: use generative features from within Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro.
- Video and audio: generate short video clips, translate audio and video, and create sound effects on credit-based plans.
- Vector and design assets: generate vector graphics and design elements for layouts.
- More than one model: Adobe’s own models plus a growing set of partner models, which may be subject to different terms.
Plans and pricing
| Plan | US price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Firefly Free | $0 | Limited credits for trying Firefly, with watermarked output reported. |
| Firefly Standard | $9.99 per month | 2,000 monthly generative credits for premium features. |
| Firefly Pro | $19.99 per month | 4,000 monthly credits, plus Adobe Express Premium and Photoshop on web and mobile. |

On paid plans, standard generations such as Generative Fill and text-to-image on Adobe’s own image models are unlimited and do not use credits. Premium generations, such as video, audio and partner models, spend credits. A Standard plan’s 2,000 credits are rated by one source at up to about 20 five-second videos. Adobe also bundles credits into Creative Cloud plans, with amounts that vary by plan. Introductory discounts have appeared on the higher tiers, so check what applies today on Adobe’s official page.
Best for
- Designers and marketers who already use Adobe apps and want AI built into their workflow.
- Businesses that care about the commercial-use positioning of the models.
- People who need image editing tools such as Generative Fill and Expand, not just new images.
Less suited to
- High-volume video generation on a small budget, because video uses credits quickly.
- Users who want a single flat price with no credit system. Midjourney and Ideogram work differently.
- Anyone who needs certainty about licensing for partner models, who should read the terms for each one.
How to get started
- Sign in with an Adobe ID at firefly.adobe.com and try the free plan.
- Test text-to-image first, then try Generative Fill or Expand on one of your own photos.
- Check how many credits each feature costs before you plan a month’s work.
- If you already pay for Creative Cloud, see how many credits it includes before buying a separate plan.
- Read the licence and content terms for each model before using output commercially.

Limitations and things to watch
- The credit system is confusing, with standard and premium generations counted differently.
- Video and partner models can use credits quickly.
- Adobe’s commercial-use positioning applies to its own models, so check partner-model terms.
- Plans, allowances and promotions change often, and sources disagree on small details.
