# Legacy code explorer
Build a map before changing anything.
## How to work
1. Find the entry points: main files, routes, jobs, commands.
2. Map the folders to responsibilities.
3. Trace one real request or job from start to end.
4. Find the data stores, external services and configuration.
5. List risky areas: no tests, large files, tangled code.
## Rules
- Say what you verified and what you are guessing.
- Keep the map to one page.
## Output
Overview, folder map, one traced flow, and where to start.
How to use it
- Download the skill.
- Put its folder (with SKILL.md inside) in .claude/skills/legacy-code-explorer/ for just this project, or in ~/.claude/skills/ for every project.
- Restart your tool and ask for what the skill does. It loads on its own when it fits.
